# Overview

> Imports let you bring data into NeuronCx from a Google Sheet — new leads, product and category records, customer identities from another system, and values tied to those identities.

![Overview 2](https://mintcdn.com/neuroncx/5mOhC2jgmP-Jz__1/images/overview-2.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5mOhC2jgmP-Jz__1\&q=85\&s=f12b0d34426ea02176340430862cedc5)

The list shows every import that's been created, grouped by category, and can be filtered using the tags at the top. Each row shows the import's name, its type, how many rows it holds, and when it was last run.

### Import Types

NeuronCx supports a number of import types. Each has its own page with the setup, steps, and prerequisites specific to it.

| ID | Import Type | Description |
| - | - | - |
| 1 | Leads | Brings in new leads from a sheet |
| 2 | ProductLine | Legacy import for product line records (Id, Value format) |
| 3 | CategoryType | Legacy import for category type records (Id, Value format) |
| 4 | Category | Legacy import for category records (Id, Value format) |
| 5 | SKU | Legacy import for SKU records (Id, Value format) |
| 6 | SubCategory | Legacy import for subcategory records (Id, Value format) |
| 7 | Bulk WF Trigger | Manually triggers a workflow in bulk for a set of records; the required input depends on the workflow type selected |
| 8 | Trx Attribute Datastore Value Update or Import | Updates or adds attribute datastore values for existing records |
| 9 | Attribute And Post Content Create Using Inline txt | Imports attribute values, then uses a linked Treatment to create post content from inline text and fire a text-indexing workflow |
| 10 | LocationList | Legacy import for location records (Id, Value format) |
| 11 | Trx Attribute Entity Import | Creates new entity records (e.g. product lines, categories, SKUs) with attribute data |
| 12 | Post Content Create Using WebUrl | Creates post content by pulling from a web URL in the sheet |
| 13 | Trx Attribute Entity Relational Import Update | Updates existing entity records, including relationships between them (e.g. linking a product to its category) |
| 14 | Topics imports | Creates new topics (label, description, chapter) |
| 15 | Topics Data Store and Sample Question Import | Adds sample questions and additional details to topics already created |
| 16 | Updating post-content from trx attribute | Updates post content tied to a transaction attribute |
| 17 | Call Analytics WF | Imports call recordings for assessment, matched to an agent and phone number; the assessment workflow is triggered separately after import |
| 18 | Orders | Imports order records |
| 19 | WF trigger with sheet supplied initial\_variable | Triggers a workflow per row on a schedule, using a date and user mobile number from the sheet |
| 20 | PostContentUpdate | Appends new text to existing post content and regenerates its embedding |
| 22 | PostContentCreate | Creates new standalone post content with journeys attached |
| 23 | Lead Import With Attributes | Brings in new leads along with additional attribute data |
| 24 | **External Identity Import** | Matches or creates customer/patient records from another system, by phone number |
| 25 | **External Values Import** | Sets attribute values on customer/patient records that already exist, from a third-party system |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Pages not yet linked will be added as we document each type. If you're looking for one that isn't linked yet, check back soon.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You don't have to import every column in your sheet. When you set up a mapping, you choose only the columns you actually need.

## Navigation & General Conventions

You'll find Imports here:

**Home > Ontology > Attributes > Import**

> [!TIP]
>
> Use the **+ Import** button in the top right whenever you want to bring in a new sheet.

A few things apply across every import type, regardless of what you're bringing in:

* Your Google Sheet needs to be shared with edit access, so NeuronCx can read from (and in some cases write back to) it.
* Use a separate sheet when you're adding new records versus updating existing ones — don't mix the two in one sheet.
* New records typically use IDs in CAPS. When updating an existing record, the ID should be in lowercase.
* Only one import runs at a time. If you start a new import while another is still running, it will wait its turn rather than run alongside it.

> [!WARNING]
>
> If you're setting up a relation between records in your sheet (for example, linking a product to its category), the column name must follow this pattern: `Relation_<name>_RelationId` — no spaces, exactly two underscores, and it must start with "Relation". For example: `Relation_Category_232`.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Each import type has its own prerequisites beyond these — check that type's page before you start.

## Starting a New Import

**1. Click + Import**

From the Data Import list, click the **+ Import** button.

**2. Give it a label**

Enter a name that describes what this import is for, for example "Product Line Import."

**3. Add the Google Sheet ID**

Paste the sheet ID, or paste the full Google Sheets URL — NeuronCx will pull the ID out of it automatically.

**4. Verify**

Click **Verify**. NeuronCx confirms it can read the sheet and shows you how many rows and columns it found, so you can catch an empty or wrong sheet before going further.

**5. Choose the import type**

Pick a category from the list on the left, then the specific import type on the right. You can also search across all categories if you know the type's name.

**6. Create the import**

Click **Create import** to save it. It will now appear in your import list, ready to run.

> [!NOTE]
>
> All of this happens on a single screen — you don't need to move through separate pages to set up an import.

## Checking Results & Fixing Problems

Every import run is logged, so you can see what happened and step in if something went wrong. This works the same way across all import types.

![Checking Results 2](https://mintcdn.com/neuroncx/5mOhC2jgmP-Jz__1/images/checking_results-2.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5mOhC2jgmP-Jz__1\&q=85\&s=c6c62d7483d542f0d0641487d0f1025d)

Each run shows:

| Column | What it shows |
| - | - |
| Run | The run number |
| Mapping | Which mapping was used |
| Action | A summary of what changed — rows read, records created, values set |
| Status | Completed, Rolled back, or Partially completed |
| Error | Any error that occurred |
| Started | When the run began |
| ETA | How long it took |
| Rollback | An option to undo the run, where available |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Rollback is currently available for External Identity imports.

### Viewing more detail on a run

Click a run's **Status** to open a detailed breakdown.

![Detailed Breakdown 2](https://mintcdn.com/neuroncx/5mOhC2jgmP-Jz__1/images/detailed_breakdown-2.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5mOhC2jgmP-Jz__1\&q=85\&s=8793bdb54967a3662fa5ea6f69e3c029)

This shows how many rows were read, how many succeeded, how many failed, and how many were skipped — along with which specific rows need attention.

> [!NOTE]
>
> It's normal for a rollback to leave a few records in place rather than removing everything. This happens when a record has picked up other activity since the import ran — NeuronCx protects that activity rather than deleting it. The run detail will show which records were kept and why.

## Quick Reference

> [accordion] My import shows 'Nothing set' after running
>
> This means the run completed but didn't find any changes to make — double check your mapping and that the sheet data matches what's expected.

> [accordion] I got an error trying to update a sheet
>
> Check that you've selected the correct import type for an update rather than a new import — using the wrong one will show an error rather than making an incorrect change.

> [accordion] A column in my sheet isn't coming through
>
> Make sure the attribute it maps to already exists in NeuronCx, and that it's included in your mapping — columns without a header are skipped automatically.

> [accordion] I need to undo an import
>
> Check the individual import type's page — rollback support and steps vary by type.
